U12 (Grades 5-6) Division
The Parks, Recreation, & Facilities Department is excited to partner with PAYSA for the fall 2026 rec soccer season. Providing children with a positive youth sports experience is a community effort, and we are eager to work together to make this program an even greater success than before.

This program is only for residents of Portland or attend school in Portland.

Division Aims:
This division provides a positive soccer experience for grade 5 and 6 students by:
  • Offering a diverse, inclusive environment for peers to play together.
  • Ensuring a safe, healthy setting with background-checked, trained coaches focused on teamwork and player care.
  • Supporting developmentally appropriate play and valuing player input during practices and games.
  • Investing equally in all players regardless of personal characteristics.
  • Promoting sportsmanship, respect, fun, and social bonding.
Practices: There will be an hour practice on Wednesdays or Thursdays at Rowe, Riverton, East End or Reiche.

Games: Games will be on Saturday later morning or early afternoon at the Riverton Community Center. Two 30-minute halves

Teams: The league consist of four regions, and each team will consist of players from schools within the same region. Players will be selected based on skill level to ensure all teams are balanced and fair.

If you would like your child to play on the Coed team please select Coed below. If there are not enough Coed players they will be matched up with one of the other teams in the Boys division for that grade level. If you encounter any difficulties registering your child for the division that best aligns with their gender identity, please contact us for assistance in ensuring they are placed correctly.

What to Bring: Players must bring shin guards, cleats or sneakers, comfortable clothing for practice, and a team jersey (uniform) for game days. They must also always bring water to practices and games.

Coaches: This league is run with the help of volunteer coaches, with each team having at least two coaches. Questions to ask?
Can you respect and encourage players? Are you a positive role model? Are you a clear, consistent communicator? Are you someone who listens? Do you have some knowledge of soccer?

Coaches Commitment: One practice per week and one game per weekend. (Approx. 60 - 90 minutes)

Pricing:
The fee is $105.00 for Residents and $125.00 for Non-Residents (Team Jersey Included)
Financial Assistance: This program is eligible for fee waivers. If you currently have a fee waiver for 2026, you will not need a new application for this program.

Schedule and Locations:
Practices: One-hour sessions are tentatively scheduled for Wednesdays or Thursdays at Rowe, Riverton, East End or Reiche.
Games: Competitions will take place on Saturdays (late morning or afternoon) on September 12, 19, 26, and October 3, 10, 17, 24.
Locations: Practice sites may include Rowe, East End, Reiche, or Riverton CC. All games will be held at the Riverton Community Center, located at 1600 Forest Ave.
