We offer two levels of adult instruction. For each level, individualized instruction is based on skill and comfort level, as well as group dynamics.Adult: BeginnerAges: 15 years and upMinimum Skill Requirements: None. This class can help teens or adults with minimal water experience to learn the basic skills to achieve a minimum level of water competency. Participants will work on the foundations of swimming such as swimming on front using combined arm and leg action, swimming on back using a combined arm and leg action, submerging head completely underwater, etc.Adult: IntermediateAges: 15 years and upMinimum Skill Requirements: Be able to swim at least 1 length of the pool (25 meters) with arm and leg action on front and back, along with demonstrating some rudimentary rotary breathing skills getting face wet. This class is for teens and adults who want to improve their foundational skills and swimming strokes to gain an overall level of comfort in the water. It will also introduce some of the more complex details of the strokes that are introduced in the Adult Beginners lessons.Class Duration: 45 Minutes Location: Reiche Community Pool - Clark Street Entrance

Preschool Aquatics aims to promote the developmentally appropriate learning of fundamental water safety and skills by young children. Aquatic and safety skills are taught in a logical progression through three levels of courses. Participants may use a noodle for support in the water but will be worked slowly off of flotation.Beginner PreschoolAges: Child must be between 3 and 5 years old to enroll and be fully potty-trained. Parents do not get in the water. Minimum Skill Requirements: Participants must be capable of listening to direction and following all pool rules. (Example: Holding onto the edge of the pool during the lesson.)Class Duration: 30 Minutes Location: Reiche Community Pool - Clark Street Entrance

Learn-to-Swim courses consist of a logical, six-level progression. Learn-to-Swim: Level 2Ages: 5 yrs 6 months - 14 years oldMinimum Skill Requirements: Demonstrate all completion requirements in Learn-To-Swim Level 1. They should be comfortable getting their face fully submerged when asked and be able to swim independently for about 15 feet or from the wall to the flags (a noodle may be used for longer distances).Class Duration: 45 Minutes Location: Reiche Community Pool - Clark Street Entrance

Learn-to-Swim courses consist of a logical, six-level progression. Learn-to-Swim: Level 4Ages: 6 - 14 years oldMinimum Skill Requirements: Demonstrate all completion requirements in Learn-To-Swim Level 3. They should be comfortable swimming a length of the pool (25 meters) on both front and back as well as know front crawl while demonstrating breathing to the side. They should also be able to comfortably swim the rudimentary elementary backstroke one length of the pool (25 meters).Class Duration: 45 Minutes Location: Reiche Community Pool - Clark Street Entrance

Get ready to dive into the world of lifeguarding with the American Red Cross Junior Lifeguarding Program—created just for ages 11–14! Over the length of the course, you’ll build the skills, confidence, and know-how to prepare for the full American Red Cross Lifeguarding course when you turn 15.Each class mixes dry-land lessons with exciting in-water activities. Along the way, you’ll learn essential communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills, while practicing the techniques every future lifeguard needs to know. All students must pass a prerequisite swim test in order to participate, swim tests will be scheduled before the first day.COURSE PREREQUISITES Before entering Junior Lifeguarding, participants must demonstrate the following skills, students will be asked to complete a swim evaluation before the first day of classes: Swim the front crawl for 25 yards continuously while breathing to the front or side. Swim the breaststroke for 25 yards using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence. Complete the water competency sequence without stopping: Step into water from the side and totally submerge. Maintain position for one minute by treading water or floating (or a combination of the two). Rotate one full turn and orient to the exit. Level off and swim on the front or back 25 yards. Exit without using a ladder or steps. Price of this course includes a T-Shirt and a Whistle.This course is not fee waiver eligible. Get ready to dive into the world of lifeguarding with the American Red Cross Junior Lifeguarding Program—created just for ages 11–14! Over the length of the course, you’ll build the skills, confidence, and know-how to prepare for the full American Red Cross Lifeguarding course when you turn 15.Each class mixes dry-land lessons with exciting in-water activities. Along the way, you’ll learn essential communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills, while practicing the techniques every future lifeguard needs to know. All students must pass a prerequisite swim test in order to participate, swim tests will be scheduled before the first day.COURSE PREREQUISITES Before entering Junior Lifeguarding, participants must demonstrate the following skills, students will be asked to complete a swim evaluation before the first day of classes: Swim the front crawl for 25 yards continuously while breathing to the front or side. Swim the breaststroke for 25 yards using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence. Complete the water competency sequence without stopping: Step into water from the side and totally submerge. Maintain position for one minute by treading water or floating (or a combination of the two). Rotate one full turn and orient to the exit. Level off and swim on the front or back 25 yards. Exit without using a ladder or steps. Price of this course includes a T-Shirt and a Whistle.This course is not fee waiver eligible. We offer two levels of adult instruction. For each level, individualized instruction is based on skill and comfort level, as well as group dynamics.Adult: BeginnerAges: 15 years and upMinimum Skill Requirements: None. This class can help teens or adults with minimal water experience to learn the basic skills to achieve a minimum level of water competency. Participants will work on the foundations of swimming such as swimming on front using combined arm and leg action, swimming on back using a combined arm and leg action, submerging head completely underwater, etc.Adult: IntermediateAges: 15 years and upMinimum Skill Requirements: Be able to swim at least 1 length of the pool (25 meters) with arm and leg action on front and back, along with demonstrating some rudimentary rotary breathing skills getting face wet. This class is for teens and adults who want to improve their foundational skills and swimming strokes to gain an overall level of comfort in the water. We offer two levels of adult instruction. For each level, individualized instruction is based on skill and comfort level, as well as group dynamics.Adult: BeginnerAges: 15 years and upMinimum Skill Requirements: None. This class can help teens or adults with minimal water experience to learn the basic skills to achieve a minimum level of water competency. Participants will work on the foundations of swimming such as swimming on front using combined arm and leg action, swimming on back using a combined arm and leg action, submerging head completely underwater, etc.Adult: IntermediateAges: 15 years and upMinimum Skill Requirements: Be able to swim at least 1 length of the pool (25 meters) with arm and leg action on front and back, along with demonstrating some rudimentary rotary breathing skills getting face wet. This class is for teens and adults who want to improve their foundational skills and swimming strokes to gain an overall level of comfort in the water.
