Peaks Island Rec-It Wednesdays - Rec-It Wednesdays - Week Six Sign up for Wednesday Summer Rec Camp on Peaks!Portland Parks, Recreation & Facilities is excited to offer a Wednesday day camp this summer on Peaks to fill in gaps in other island summer programming. We need 10 participants to be enrolled by the Monday before each Wednesday to be able to do off-island field trips. On Wednesdays that have fewer than 10 enrollments, the program will happen on the island.Who: Open to all children who have completed Kindergarten through 5th grade. Families can sign up for one week or all seven weeksWhen: Wednesdays - July 9, 16, 23, 30, and August 6.Time: 7:45am- 5:00pmCost: $80 per day which includes (including the field trip)Where: Drop off will be at the Portland Casco Bay Lines Ferry Terminal. Parents should take their children over on the 8:15am ferry and drop them off to Rec staff at the Portland terminal.Pick up will be at 5:30pm at the Peaks Island Community Center. Rec staff will bring campers back over to the island on the 2:15pm ferry.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Readiness Skills:To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all our participants, everyone attending the program must be able to perform the following readiness skills:- Participate independently or with reasonable accommodations/modifications.- Take and follow directions and instructions from a staff member and be open to changing what they are doing to keep the group safe and welcoming to all people.- Interact and participate in a manner that is physically and emotionally safe for themselves and others.- Maintain personal care without the support of recreation staff.Stay with their assigned group throughout the program's duration or safely request a break from the group where staff can see/hear them and the rest of the group.- Follow the department's behavior expectations, which include being safe, respectful and responsible.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Camp Schedule:8:30-8:45am Drop off at the Casco Bay Lines Portland Terminal8:45am-2:00 p.m. Connect with Camp Venture, East End School location, and spend time with the camp on their full day field trip. Week 3 - AquabogganWeek 4 - Urban AirWeek 5 - Biddeford Rotary park (swimming in the Saco river and exploring the park)Week 6 - Splash TownWeek 7 - Ferry Beach State Park, SacoTrips can be changed or canceled at any time. Please check in on this page on the Monday before the Wednesday camp for trip updates.2:00-5:30 p.m. - Travel and group time back on Peaks Island----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------What to bring each day:If campers show up for the camp day without the things they need for the day, they will not be able to check in for camp.-Labeled backpack/tote with your child’s first and last name.-Labeled and filled water bottle.-A sun hat/cap and sunglasses -A change of clothing.- Sunscreen (SPF 30 or above). Please put sunscreen on your child before coming to camp.-Sneakers/ socks with closed-toed shoes. Sandals/flip flops/crocs are not appropriate unless on a beach trip.-A full lunch PLUS a few snacks (e.g. fruit, granola bars, veggies, trail mix, pretzels). What Not To Bring:Electronics including games, cell phones, iPad, smart watches.Valuables, including money.
