This program is a great way to explore the area and make new friends while staying active. Activities include local fairs, theater trips, concerts, museum visits, shopping trips, bowling, local walking trails, themed luncheons, guest speakers, holiday parties, arts and crafts, boat rides, and much more. Participants are able to drive to most of our activities or we can pick up residents right up at home with one of our mini buses. Registrations for activities take place bi-monthly. If you have any questions, or would like to be added to our monthly mailing list, please contact us at the Recreation office via email at vjunkins@portlandmaine.gov or call us at 808-5445. 3/26- Merrill Auditorium "The Peking Acrobats"
"In their graceful efforts these brightly costumed tumblers, acrobats, cyclists, jugglers and clever clowns provide 90 minutes of family fun that infuses [life] with an extra measure of joy." NEW YORK TIMES Trick cycling, maneuvers atop a precarious pagoda of chairs, gorgeous silk work, precision tumbling, thrilling juggling, unbelievable contortionism, gymnastics, and more; The Peking Acrobats redefine audiences’ perception of the ancient art of Chinese acrobatics. A truly spectacular show for all ages, the grace and precision of the acrobats are the triumph of years of dedicated training and discipline. Chinese acrobatics are, in fact, more than just a series of stunts. These acts clearly demonstrate the achievement of perfection through finding harmony between mind and body.
