It is our goal to provide a safe, fun and positive experience for your child(ren).
Please review the following policies before drop-off.
General Policies
- Children grades Kindergarten through 5th are welcome to stay in childcare.
- Children must be picked up within 5 minutes of the meeting's end.
- The same parent or guardian who signed the child in must sign the child out and present ID.
- The guardian must remain within the building at all times while the child is in childcare. No exceptions.
- Food, drinks and snacks are not allowed.
- Please have your child use the restroom prior to drop-off.
- Medication will not be allowed or administered by staff.
- Toys from home including, electronic devices, are not allowed. The Portland Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department and its staff are not responsible for lost, broken or stolen items.
- Shoes are required while visiting.
Sick Child Policy
Please do not bring your child if your child has:
- a fever of 99 or higher.
- vomited within the past 24 hours.
- had a watery stool in the past 24 hours.
- a sore throat and/or swollen glands causing difficulty in swallowing.
- a constant cough.
- symptoms of a possible communicable disease (usually sniffles, red eyes, sore throat, headache, abdominal pain, fever, and/or skin spots, bumps, or patches)
Potential Parent Notifications
A parent/guardian may be contacted for the following reasons:
- A child is exhibiting behaviors that are unsafe for themselves and/or others.
- A child is not following instructions from staff.
- A child is crying for more than 10 minutes.
- Staff feels the child is sick.
- Staff feels the child is in need of a parent.
**Please Note**
The Portland Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department is not a licensed childcare facility in the State of Maine. Future childcare privileges may be revoked if the child or parent/guardian causes severe disruptions during participation.
